Natural Paint Stripper for Wood
Auro 461 is an eco-friendly paint remover for wood, wood based materials.
This water based paint stripper, although using natural ingredients, is a powerful product. The alkali potassium soap works with the orange and eucalyptus oils to really get strip back to the wood. Indeed wearing safety googles and rubber gloves is recommended during application!
Auro 461 Natural Paint Stripping Paste is easy to use. Simply apply 1.5mm to 3mm of paste on the surface (depending on how thick the paint is) and leave for 2 hours. Then remove the paint with a spatula or a paint stripping tool and clean off any residue with water (add a little vinegar to the water neutralise the alkalinity). More than one coat may be required on thick or stubborn paints.
For woods high in tanins, for example Oak, we recommend trying Auro 461 in a hidden spot first as the paste may cause discolouration.
Please note this paint stripper works best on alkyde resin based conventional lacquers and wood stains (and all Auro lacquers and wood stains in both the Aqua and Classic ranges). It will not work on modern lacquers and wood stains based on acrylics or polyurethane binders. If in doubt, please test a small area first.
