Since prehistoric times, we humans have used natural and mineral pigments to decorate our walls, bodies and possessions. Whether as a means of expression or as a record of events, we have utilised the natural colours of nature to adorn the walls of caves and castles alike. Prehistoric cave paintings, rich lime washes, glorious frescos, beautiful oil paintings, refreshing watercolours and inspired egg tempera icons, all have one thing in common, pigments. Without pigments there would be no lasting colour.

All of the pigments in the Mineral range are lime stable.
Primaries
Coloured Earth primary pigments are a stunning range of colours that cannot be created by mixing other pigments together. They are a fantastic non-toxic alternative to some of the traditional colours known as cadmium colours. The vivid, pigments have good tinting strength and are perfect for making paints.
Pigments in the Primary range are not suitable for Lime or cement based binders. They are however great for interior clay and gypsum based plasters.
Oxides
Coloured Earth Oxides pigments are manufactured from natural elements. They have strong tinting powers as they are more opaque than other types of pigments. Oxide paints are suitable for use with lime based binders.
