Street Art Murals with eico Wall Paint
Posted by Celtic Sustainables on 5th Sep 2018
We had originally chosen to stock the eicó paint brand because of it’s environmental credentials along with it’s durability and vast colour range – with our in-house tinting machine we can mix pretty much any colour! However, when we learnt about how eicó is being used to promote and create opportunities for artists to showcase their talent in Hong Kong and internationally through the mediums of street art and street culture we had to find out more.
Throughout each March in Hong Kong
Hkwalls facilitate 30-40 public murals, hosts workshops, film screenings and talks. The aim of the not-for-profit organisation is to create opportunities for local and international artists to showcase their talent and to make the creative process accessible to all.
The results are simply stunning. Here are a few of the street artists and their work.
Carol Mui and Rebecca T Lin
Carol Mui and Rebecca T Lin, aka Creative Hustlers, are muralists and freelance graphic designers based in Hong Kong. In light of the Occupy Central movement in 2014, Rebecca emerges as a proud Hong Konger. Touched by the protesting youths, she voiced solidarity by depicting the injustice in Mao-inspired screen-printed propaganda posters exhibited at UCA Degree Show at the University for Creative Arts (UK).
Neil Wang
Neil Wang specialises in illustration, mural and graphic design. He’s deeply inspired by Japanese art, culture and collage art; so his artworks are a combination of abstract patterns, textured collages and lettering.
Riya Chandiramani
Through a graphic and often very intricately detailed presentation, Riya aims to break down social constructions of difference and divisions by portraying juxtapositions, as a metaphor for the barriers that we create as a society; and tries to engage viewers to reflect on their impermanent identities in contemporary society and remind them of their true place in the greater universe as pure and eternal beings. There are often hidden messages – shapes, images, text – within her work, so that the viewing experience is interactive and thought-provoking.
Alex Senna
Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, street artist and illustrator Alex Senna creates vivid expressions of human love, romance and relationships through youthful and nostalgic symbols such as hearts, birds and balloons. By transposing his sketches to city walls around the globe he ignites urban settings with feelings of love and happiness by exposing his viewers to the intimate moments of his characters. His work is composed almost entirely in black and white, making his messages come across simple, clear, and straight from the heart.
If you are interested in creating your own wall mural on outdoor walls or inside, eico paint is a a great choice for street art.
