The Bonding Primer from Earthborn allows you to use the Earthborn Silicate Masonry Paint on previously painted exterior surfaces! This new product means that all 48 beautiful shades of the Earthborn Silicate Paint range can be used on all Buildings!
The Bonding Primer provides a long-lasting bond for the Earthborn Masonry Paint System on all previously painted exterior surfaces (as long as those surfaces are stable and sound of course). It provides a mechanical bond between a ‘sealed’ wall and the paint, which allows Silicate Masonry Paint to ‘stick’ to the pre-painted surface. Note these surfaces will not be breathable.
This means that you can use the same Silicate Masonry Paint on both the buildings that need a breathable exterior paint (applying the silicate primer on those areas) and any surrounding buildings or patches of wall that have been previously painted with an unknown paint or acrylic paint (applying the bonding primer on those areas), providing you with a totally colour co-ordinated exterior.
The Bonding Primer can also be used to spot prime patches on breathable buildings where the previous paint cannot be removed (please be aware these patches will not be breathable). You then prime the rest of the unpainted area with Silicate Primer. For the second coat you then apply a mixture of 20% Silicate Primer and 80% Silicate Masonry Paint over the whole area (including the Bonding Primer patches). Then finish with a final coat of Silicate Masonry Paint.
This new product from Earthborn also allows people with a previously painted house to take advantage of the weather resistant and eco-friendly properties of the external Silicate Masonry Paint.
Coverage: 4-7m² per litre per coat on a smooth surface. Though coverage is highly dependent on surface porosity and surface texture. (This is for use as a rough guide only, in reality, coverage can differ greatly)
Drying Time: Dry and ready to be painted over after 4-6 hours in normal conditions.
