ECO Wood Treatment is a non-toxic wood stain treatment that creates a natural aged look for all exterior wood with one easy application. It never needs to be restained and requires no maintenance.
This product is environmentally safe and non-toxic and lasts a very long time.
Eco wood stain powder - This environmentally safe treatment is supplied in powder form (in a packet) and is easily mixed with water. It is available in both 4.5 and 22 litre sizes to cover approximately 14m2 and 70m2 respectively.
This treatment has been used in both Canada and the USA for over 50 years, benefiting both residential and commercial users by enhancing the appearance and protecting homes and businesses. It is an easy-to-use wood treatment that gives all types of wood a silvery patina/weathered look, and also provides protection against white rot fungi.
ECO Wood Treatment can be used in exterior or interior applications like decking, cladding, wooden planters, picnic tables, windows, doors, gazebos etc. It can be used on untreated (bare) wood including pressure treated timber (however the effects may take longer).
ECO Wood Treatment is a recipe that has been passed down through three generations of skilled woodworkers. The powder can be easily mixed with water and is completely non-toxic to plants, animals, and humans alike. It can be safely used in direct contact with the soil and does not contain any harmful chemicals.

Application
Suitable for: External use and Internal Use. The aging effect will occur more quickly in outdoor environments and those areas with more sunlight and rain.
Recommended timbers: Suitable for use on all species of bare timber including pressure treated timber.
Applications: decking, cladding, wooden planters, picnic tables, windows, doors, gazebos etc.
Application method:
Do not use any chemical wood cleaners or bio-washes to the wood before application.
- Mix the powder with water (see included instruction sheet for exact amount of water required). Stir thoroughly.
- Apply by brush, roller, spray gun or by dipping.
- Stir occasionally during application to maintain proper solution.
- Ensure that all wood surfaces are completely wet especially the end-grain, fresh cuts and open cracks.
- The wet wood can be safely worked on without leaving permanent finger or foot marks (it doesn't leave a sticky or oily residue).
- Some types of wooden surfaces will show no immediate visible change in colours. This is completely normal. After exposure to sun and rain the treatment will react with the wood and gradually change the colour to a natural aged effect - often a rich silvery patina to dark brown (whatever is natural for that particular timber).
Precautions:
ECO Wood Treatment treated wood is harmless to people, soil, plants, water and gardens. However the powder concentrate is acidic. Avoid inhalation of the powder and contact with the eyes. Wear suitable protective equipment when the product is in powder form: Eye protection etc.
If used on structures above or near concrete it is possible some staining may occur if the diluted product is dripped onto the concrete. Therefore take extra care around concrete and approximately 24 hours after application water down the concrete to mimic heavy rain. It will also stain clothes, fabrics, windows and other surfaces so use with care.
Do not use on glass. If contact with glass wipe off as soon as possible.
Storage:
The powder can be stored indefinitely in a dry location.
After mixing with water, the solution keeps best in a sealed plastic jar and should last for 1 year. To increase the shelf life of the liquid it needs to be mixed with distilled water.

Insider Tip
Mix up a small amount of the solution and try it on a sample or out of site section of the wood you want to "age" first to make sure the final "weathered" patina is to the aesthetic you desire (different woods weather in different ways). Leave the sample in a place similar to the wood you want to treat for a week or so to gauge how fast the colour is changing.
