Pressure Vessels are also known as Expansion Vessels or Shock Arrestors are highly recommended with all automatic pumps including the Divertron and SteelPumps ranges.
Pressure Vessels reduce false starts of your pump and therefore improve energy efficiency and greatly improve pump life.
Install the Pressure Vessel on the outlet/delivery side, within the building in a dry and frost free location.
Other Pressure Vessel sizes are available. Please contact us for details.
Check and recharge the pressure vessel once a year.
How Pressure Vessels work
Pressure Vessels are installed on the water delivery (outlet) side of your pumped water hose installation.
Inside of the metal Pressure Vessel is a rubber membrane. Compressed air is on one side of the membrane, water on the other. Air compresses far more than water, so when there is a drop in pressure in your water delivery network (a drip from a tap, or leak at a hose connection) the air side of the membrane takes up the space created by the drip) and keeps the water in your system pressurised so that the pump does not start. The pump only needs to kick in once the pressurised water from the pressure vessel tank has been used.
Automatic pumps work by detecting a pressure drop in the delivery network - even the tiniest of leaks will make the pump start. A Pressure Vessel on your pumped water pipe network will therefore increase the life of your pump should there be a leak.
