Treatex Douglas Fir Protection is an external wood finish designed for use on Douglas Fir. It is perfect for garden furniture, fences, decking and other garden furniture.
The oil penetrates the surface of the timber attaching to the wood capillaries to provide superior protection against extreme climate conditions.
Manufactured on a base of sustainable raw materials which include sunflower oil, safflower oil and soybean oil, Treatex Douglas Fir Protection is the perfect choice for you and the environment.
Please be aware that Treatex Douglas Fir Protection is not suitable for tannin rich woods such as Oak. For timbers high in tannins, we recommend Treatex External Oak and Treatex External Oak Protection. For Cedar and Larch see Cedar Oil and Grey Cedar Oil.

Preparation
- Treatex Douglas Fir Protection is designed for use on unfinished timber. Previous finishes that will stop penetration or are flaking must be fully removed before application.
- Ensure the timber is dry and free from possible contaminants e.g. algae, grease, dirt, dust etc.
- Timbers susceptible to decay, mould and fungi should be treated first with a suitable preservative.
- Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be greater than 8ºC during application and drying.
- We strongly recommend that you try a test application prior to starting the project.
Application
- Stir tin thoroughly before and during use.
- Use a brush or roller to apply Treatex Douglas Fir Protection thinly and evenly in the same direction as the wood grain. Pay particular attention to the end grain. On the end grains apply wet on wet until the product is no longer absorbed by the timber.
- Leave to dry for approximately 3-6 hours.
- Apply a second coat within 24 hours of applying the first coat. This is so that both coats can bind to each other properly.
- Leave for a further 24 hours to dry completely.
