Treatex Stain Inhibitor is an easy to apply primer which is designed to prevent the excess tannins present in some woods from migrating to the surface which may cause unsightly staining.
Exterior timbers with naturally occurring high tannin levels (e.g. Oak, Idigbo, Teak, Cedar, Mahogany) should be treated with Treatex Stain Inhibitor before being sealed with Treatex Classic Colour Collection.
Coverage: 2.5 litres will cover approximately 30m2 depending on timber and method of application.
Preparation
- Ensure that previous finishes are fully removed before application.
- Timber should be dry and free from contaminants such as algae, grease, dirt and dust etc.
- Any exterior timbers which may be susceptible to mould, fungus and decay should first be treated with a preservative.
- Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be greater than 8ºC during application and drying.
- We strongly advise a trial application before starting the project.
Application
- Stir tins thoroughly before and during use.
- One coat of Treatex Stain Inhibitor should be applied with a brush or roller in the same direction as the wood grain.
- Leave for approx 24 hours to dry and then overcoat with Treatex Classic Colour Collection.
