Rainwater Harvesting System Kit with the 1500L Utility Tank and Pump

These above ground rainwater harvesting systems - Rainwater Tank Systems - combine a Stainless Steel pump and the versatile, space-saving water-tank design of 1500L Utility Rainwater Tank. This system gives you an enormous rainwater harvesting capacity yet still only occupies a 120cm x 78cm foot-space, 2m high. It represents the premium option for 'medium scale' above ground Rainwater Harvesting and pressure-boosting water storage at a level most users will find optimal. Also used widely in plant rooms as a fire-water or fire sprinkler system, as a pressure boosting tank as well as in all sorts of rainwater harvesting, water processing and water recycling applications.

Space Saving Rainwater Harvesting

Short of stepping up to a large footprint tank (which will obviously need an appropriately sized space) this is pretty much the largest capacity rainwater tank that can be sensibly placed around the home or workshop environment. The water-tank has been designed at just 800mm wide to fit through standard doorways and down staircases for ease of access to difficult spaces, cellars and basements.

Industrial grade strength - food grade virgin PE, fitted with brass threaded fittings. Highly durable.

The rectangular space-saving Utility Tank is supplied in a superb black finish. Comes with removable large lid for ease of access to install equipment inside.

Professional or Standard Systems

The Professional versions of these systems includes a SteelPump, the basic version a Calpeda GXRM pump.

SteelPump

The XAJE80P is a high quality SteelPump jet pump, with stainless steel motor body. It is a submersible, automatic (with electronic flow control), self-priming, 0.6KW unit running at 4.5 Amps and is best placed in a covered environment or actually in the tank so that it can be protected from frost. It also runs out of water and is ideal for using in locations around the garden. The electronic flow control responds to pressure changes in the outlet pipe - as the user draws water by opening a tap or similar, the pump starts, then cuts out automatically after water demand ceases. The X-AJE P series is designed for pumping clean water only and should therefore be used with an intake strainer (which is included in this system) when submerged in a tank. The professional build quality incorporates high quality, oversized steel bearings, ceramic-graphite shaft seal and reliable electronics, making it suitable for demanding applications and high-duty cycles. Software in P series pumps is optimised for garden or irrigation use and is very safe in garden applications as the pump is totally water-proof. It is therefore very useful where children or animals are around and in the prevention of general accidents.

Where the SteelPump is outside the rainwater tanks, it comes with a carrying handle and a multi-hose reducer to fit common garden hose sizes. The kit also includes an inlet strainer for submerged use, in case you use the pump elsewhere in the garden.

Where the SteelPump is supplied with the inside pump kit, it comes with a Float Switch which will turn the pump off if the water level in the tank gets too low, therefore protecting the pump from overheating.

Calpeda GXRM Pump

The Calpeda GXRM Pump with Magentic Float Switch only runs while immersed in water. It comes with a space -saving Magnetic Float Switch which will turn the pump off if the water level in the tank gets too low. Therefore protecting the pump from overheating.

It is supplied with 10m of electric cable (H05RN-F).

Filtering the rain water

Each Rain Tank System comes complete with a Filter Connector Universal for direct connection to a downpipe of not more than 30cm away (please contact us for longer distances). This filter is everything you need to collect water from the downpipe and filter out any debris before transferring the water into the tank. It is ideal when collecting rainwater from roof areas less than 100m2 (contact us if you are collecting water from a larger area, or see our Rainwater Tank Filter Kits).

Pumping the rainwater from the tank

When the pump is used outside the tank, a Tank to Pump Connector is included in the system.

When the pump is used inside the tank, a Pump to Turret Hose and Holesaw set is included in the system.

Tank to Pump Connector

This superb connector allows the tank to be shut off without any loss of water. The connector hose can then be easily disconnected at either end. Comprises two flat seals in brass, 1m of quality flexible PVC hose and brass shut off ball-valve. It connects the 3/4" BSP tank port to the pumps 1" BSP threaded inlet. You can then connect your garden hose to the pump outlet using the multi-hose reducer which fits most common garden hose sizes.

Pump to Turret Hose

The 2m x 32mm Pump to Turret Hose connects the pump outlet to the turret of your rainwater utility tank. This is a professional grade hose which can then be connected to your garden/polytunnel irrigation pipes.

A Holesaw and rubber grommet set is included to help you position the hose through the top of the tank at a convenient place.

Where to use this rainwater harvesting system

Our rainwater tank system is especially ideal for storing and pumping out rainwater at pressure which could then supply, for example; utility rooms, wash-down areas, workshops (for water-reliant tools), toilet spaces, or maybe even under a garage or carport for cleaning the car and watering the garden or polytunnel. Not forgetting that rainwater is softer than main-supplied water and is ideally used around the house in hard-water sensitive appliances or for cleaning glass. The keen gardener who wants a poly-tunnel water tank would also find this an ideal size for feeding irrigation systems.

Accessories

This unit is not supplied with additional accessories, over the above, as it is a self-contained unit. Users may need a Tap, or a hose or pipework to connect out to an irrigation system etc which may be ordered separately.

Pressure Vessel

We highly recommend you fit a pressure vessel to the water delivery pipework (after the pump). Pressure Vessels help increase the life of your automatic pump when there are leaks in your pipe network/taps. Read more about how Pressure Vessels work.
